Your voice for social security

High rents, expensive food and grants that are far too low: The social situation of students is becoming increasingly oppressive. The situation has also been exacerbated by inflation in recent years. Those who do not receive financial support from home are at a loss under these conditions. In order to cope with the high cost of living, more and more students are being forced to work alongside their studies. Only those who do not have to constantly deal with money worries can really concentrate on their studies. We demand financial aid that is sufficient to live on and allows students to study without worries. Housing, mobility and childcare should not be a question of money. The VSStÖ is the voice for socially just universities of applied sciences!

Your voice for working students

2 out of 3 students work, most of them not voluntarily, but out of financial necessity. At universities of applied sciences, the burden is further increased by unpaid compulsory internships. Students then either have to work in two jobs at the same time or give up their paid job for the internship. It is clear to us that studying must not suffer as a result of part-time jobs and unpaid internships! We are your voice for social security that makes studying feasible even without a full-time job. Your voice for fair working conditions that are compatible with studying.

Your voice for fair studying conditions

Life as a student often presents us with insurmountable challenges. Once you have made it to a university of applied sciences, constant stress and rigid performance requirements await you. In addition, there are unrealistic attendance requirements that can lead to repeating years. If you’re looking for a hot meal on campus in between all this, you’ll have to make do with expensive canteens or private alternatives. Does it have to be like this? We want universities of applied sciences that offer us students space to develop and create a sense of solidarity. Universities of applied sciences where everyone feels comfortable, free from discrimination and financial pressure!

Vote for….

  • 3€ Cafeteria meal menu at every university
  • No more unnecessary attendance requirements
  • No more university fees
  • Free name and pronoun adjustment

Your voice for the fight against the far-right

Right-wing ideologies are on the rise worldwide. Rights that were fought hard to obtain are being openly questioned and racist and anti-semitic violence is increasing rapidly. Right-wing parties have managed to bring their hateful worldview to the center of society. It is up to all of us to stand up against these developments! Students have always been at the forefront of movements that were vocal in their opposition to far-right ideologies. With progressive, future-oriented science and research, our universities have to do their part to stop right-wing ideologies in their tracks! We need to work together to build a future of mutual respect and solidarity.

Vote for….

  • An action plan against right-wing extremism at universities
