Election-program

Your voice for social security.

High rents, expensive groceries and far too low financial support: More and more, students are being crushed by the financial burdens facing them. This has been exacerbated by the recent inflation. Those without financial support from home are left stranded. Ever more students have no choice but to find a job next to their studies to manage their costs. Only those that do not have to worry about money can focus properly on their university courses. We demand state financial support that actually covers our costs of living and makes it possible for us to pursue our studies without having to worry about money. Housing, mobility and childcare should be available to everyone for free. The VSStÖ is the voice for socially just and free universities!

Vote for …

  • Financial support that covers living costs
  • Guarantee on affordable housing
  • Free public transport for all students
  • Free childcare at all university locations

Our plan
Your voice for stronger financial support: Information campaign on the study grant

Your voice for working students.

2 out of 3 students work next to their studies, and the rate is rising. Most do not want to work, but could otherwise simply not afford to study. Students should not need to work and use the time and energy that they need for their studies! Balancing university and work is getting harder, even for those who decided freely to work next to their courses: working hours are rising, you have to be available even when you are at home, and employers that want you to skip lectures to take part in work meetings. We believe that our education should not suffer because of a job! We are your voice for financial support, on which you can afford to study without needing to work on the side. Your voice for fair working conditions that are compatible with your courses.

Vote for …

  • Easier access to the scholarship for self-supporters
  • More tuition-free semesters for working students
  • Flexible and compatible course-formats for all circumstances
  • Equal academic opportunities for all

Our plan
Your voice for fair working conditions: job-counseling and advice for students

Your voice for fair studying conditions.

As students, we are often faced with overwhelming challenges. Restrictive enrollment policies prevent us from studying the courses we would actually like to, and constant stress and intense performance requirements await us, if we do get in. Those looking to catch a quick break from it all are presented with expensive cafeterias. Does it have to be this way? We want universities that give us fair studying conditions – one’s that actually make our studies ‘the best times of our lives’. Universities that give us students the space to learn and grow and that foster solidarity among us. Universities, where everyone feels comfortable, free from discrimination and financial pressure!

Vote for….

  • 3€ Cafeteria meal menu at every university
  • No more enrollment restrictions
  • No more university fees
  • Free name and pronoun adjustment

Our plan
Your voice for a functioning orientation period: rethinking the StEOP

Your voice for the fight against the far-right.

Right-wing ideologies are on the rise worldwide. Rights that were fought hard to obtain are being openly questioned and racist and anti-semitic violence is increasing rapidly. Right-wing parties have managed to bring their hateful worldview to the center of society. It is up to all of us to stand up against these developments! Students have always been at the forefront of movements that were vocal in their opposition to far-right ideologies. With progressive, future-oriented science and research, our universities have to do their part to stop right-wing ideologies in their tracks! We need to work together to build a future of mutual respect and solidarity.

Vote for….

  • An action plan against right-wing extremism at universities
  • An end to funding for arms and fossil fuel research
  • Legal equality for non-EU students
  • the Expansion of feminist and anti-racist teachings

Your voice against racism: ÖH counselling center against racism at universities
